Yes, there is a difference. The art of fashion – artistry; craftsmanship; attention to detail; creativity; innovation; bold and daring vision – defines fashion. Fashion is about advancing the design forward.
Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. – Coco Chanel
Clothing is what most of us wear – it’s homogenized, generic, common, familiar, and functional. There is room for both fashion and clothing. Combined, they represent a multi trillion dollar business.
EDGE is about fashion and it’s artistic, cultural, and historic impact on the global society.
The Art Institute of California [Ai], Los Angeles, showcased its annual student produced fashion show – The Art of Fashion. This was a cross-collaboration between the students of the Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing programs. The designs featured were from 9 student designers – Talaya Jessie, Kasha Grubbs, Jonathan Garibay, Stella Tracey, Leslie Cuapio, Melissa Nunez, Cynthia Godoy, Curtis Morris, and Lynette Martinez.
EDGE congratulates all designers as they showcased “the art of fashion” and defined today’s relevance of instaglam. This new crop of emerging designers will leverage experience, exposure, and business economics as they make their impact on the global fashion industry. . .stay tuned.
